Introduction

We run this development web server so you'll have a place to explore more interesting web programming concepts than our production web server supports. The production web server needs to be highly-available to promote the department and serve various resources to the world. We need to configure and manage the production server conservatively so experimental software that's still in the development phase doesn't crash it.

This tutorial is organized in three sections:

  1. Industry terms and concepts that every web developer should be able to discuss.
  2. CSE's local web development environment and instructions to develop/host content within it.
  3. Scripting options to add dynamic content to your websites, from the simple to the sophisticated.
